Located in rural Rocklin, Sunset Whitney Country Club is a hidden jewel. The other local golf course is at the Whitney Oaks Golf Club. Professional golf legend Johnny Miller and Santa Rosa golf course architect Fred Bliss designed the challenging 6,800-yard course. Water or wetlands come into play on virtually every hole, and these natural environments are home to a multitude of animals, including migratory mallards and geese, beavers, wild turkeys, coyotes & deer. The setting and course provides one of the finest golf experiences in northern California. Special Attractions/Events The City of Rocklin is a forward thinking place. The City is one of only two cities in the State of California to be approved for a neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) program. Reflecting the City’s commitment to protecting the environment and providing safe transportation alternatives for residents, the NEV’s are highly efficient, zero-emission, low cost travel options. Ideal for short trips around town, NEV’s are often used by senior citizens and high school students going to and from school. The lanes are dual-use with bicycle traffic, keeping the NEVs separate from regular traffic and making their operation safe and efficient.
After the last Whitney family member died in 1926, the ranch began to deteriorate. The planned communities of Stanford Ranch and Whitney Oaks now occupy much of the former Spring Valley Ranch. As Rocklin evolved, the City saved many of the original granite bridges used to cross creeks on the Spring Valley Ranch, and the City’s Recreation Commission designed parks to include the bridges. The City’s original claim to fame came with the mining of granite. In 1910, 22 quarries operated in Rocklin and, in 1912, nearly 2,000 train carloads of granite were sent out of town. Granite for the state capitol and many of the buildings in San Francisco came from Rocklin’s quarries. Today, Rocklin granite is as popular as ever, finding its way to kitchen counters and monument signs throughout the region. Request my Free Auburn, Lincoln and Rocklin Relocation Package.
